Agency. Chinese President Xi Jinping held talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Beijing. President Putin arrived in Beijing on Tuesday night for an official visit to China and completed his visit on Wednesday.

After the meeting, Xi said, “China-Russia relations have reached this stage because both countries have consistently deepened political mutual trust and strategic coordination with firm determination, expanded cooperation with the goal of reaching new heights, safeguarded international justice and fairness, and steadily promoted the building of a community with a shared future for mankind.”

President Xi stated that China and Russia should adopt a strategic and long-term perspective, promote the development and rejuvenation of their respective countries through higher-quality comprehensive strategic coordination, and work toward making the global governance system fairer and more equitable.

He also noted that China and Russia have developed a comprehensive strategic partnership of coordination for a new era based on equality, mutual respect, harmony, and win-win cooperation.

“Political mutual trust has deepened further, cooperation in various fields such as trade and economy, investment, energy, science and technology, people-to-people exchanges, and sub-national cooperation has advanced, and ties between the peoples of the two countries have grown stronger,” he said.

Xi added that China-Russia relations have entered a new stage of major achievements and rapid development.

He emphasized that firmly promoting the long-term, sound, stable, and high-quality development of China-Russia relations is a strategic choice based on the fundamental interests of both countries and global trends.

He also stressed the need to strengthen people-to-people exchanges in order to reinforce the social foundation of bilateral friendship and further deepen the long-standing friendship between the two nations.

Xi called for enhanced coordination and cooperation within multilateral platforms such as the United Nations, Shanghai Cooperation Organization, BRICS, and APEC to promote deeper multilateral coordination.

Russian President Vladimir Putin said that bilateral relations have reached an unprecedented level of excellence, thanks to frequent high-level exchanges and strong political mutual trust between the two sides.

“Bilateral trade is steadily increasing, energy supply and demand have achieved mutual benefits, and cooperation in transportation, logistics, science, and technology is deepening,” he said.

He also mentioned that people-to-people and cultural exchanges continue to maintain strong momentum, and following the successful conclusion of the Russia-China Year of Culture, the Russia-China Year of Education is about to begin.

After the talks, the two countries issued a joint statement. In the statement, Russia and China called for a more just and fair world order by promoting an equal and balanced multipolar world and a new type of international relations. (CCTV Plus)
